How quizzes and grading work
Question types, scoring, retakes, and passing marks.
Quizzes check your understanding and, for many programs, decide whether you earn a certificate.
Taking a quiz
- Open the quiz from within your program.
- Answer each question. You'll usually see multiple-choice questions and sometimes short-answer questions.
- Submit when you're done.
- Your score appears immediately and is saved to your Progress.
How grading works
- Multiple-choice answers are graded instantly.
- Short-answer questions may be graded automatically (including AI-assisted grading) against the expected answer.
- Each program sets its own pass mark — meet it to clear the assessment.
Retakes
Many quizzes allow more than one attempt. Each attempt is recorded in your history, and your best result usually counts. If a quiz is limited to one attempt, you'll be told before you start.
Tip: Review the lesson material and your previous attempts on the Progress page before retaking.
Some certificates require a proctored exam — see Sitting a proctored exam.
