Sitting a proctored exam
Camera and ID checks, the rules, and what gets flagged.
Some certificates require a proctored exam so the result is credible to employers and institutions. Proctoring means your session is monitored and recorded for integrity.
Before you start
- Use a device with a working camera and a stable internet connection.
- Find a quiet, well-lit room where you won't be interrupted.
- Have your photo ID ready if the exam asks for identity verification.
- Close other apps and tabs you won't need.
During the exam
- Grant camera access when prompted — the exam can't start without it.
- Complete the identity check (a photo of you and/or your ID) if requested.
- Stay in view of the camera and keep the exam tab focused.
- Answer the questions and submit before the timer ends.
What gets flagged
The system logs integrity events such as leaving the exam tab, losing the camera, or multiple faces in frame. Flags are reviewed by an administrator after the exam — occasional, innocent events won't automatically fail you, but deliberate violations can void the result.
Note: Recordings and snapshots are used only to verify exam integrity and are handled according to your provider's privacy policy.
